This presentation demonstrates the result of a project in mobile comput-ing conducted during the main course in information systems at the University ofcooperative education. The Mobile Alert system for Rescue Services (MARS)supports the communication between the control center and the mobile forces dur-ing an emergency rescue. From a technical point of view, the system consists of adatabase server, a web server and several mobile devices (PDA, smart phone)within a 3-tier architecture mainly based on web services.
